Sawyer's Story

Some of you may have noticed that a few months ago I added a button to my page. This sweet face:

I feel privileged to be able to tell y'all about Sawyer's story today. I met Sawyer a few short months ago and have since become friends with his parents. I get to watch Sawyer each week in the church nursery and look forward to every moment of it. Sawyer See's Hope was started by his parents, Brianna & Pat. Sawyer is a sweet, almost one year old, who loves to talk, smile, and laugh. When he was three months old he was diagnosed with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and Septo Optic Dysplasia. What that means is Sawyer's optic nerve's are severely under developed, leaving him legally blind to the point where glasses cannot correct his vision. As any parents would, Brianna & Pat are doing all that they can to help Sawyer get the treatment he needs to one day be able to see. There is a stem cell treatment in China that could possibly correct Sawyer's vision but this treatment is costly. Sawyer See's Hope is hoping to raise $35,000 to get Sawyer the treatment.

The first day I met Sawyer I saw what a sweet and precious child he is. He loves to feel my face with his hands and mimics the sounds I make to him. I left church feeling so overwhelmed with joy. Sawyer can't see, but instead of being sad I felt so blessed to have met such a precious child of God. Brianna and Pat are two of the most loving, caring parents I've ever met. They only want what is best for their baby boy and know that God will provide what is His will for Sawyer. Brianna posted this verse on her blog and it is so powerful that I want to share it with you.

John 9:2-3 declares, "His disciples asked Him, 'Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?' 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned,' said Jesus, 'but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.'

How incredible is that?

If you feel this tugging on your heart, as I do, please help send Sawyer to China by donating to Sawyer See's Hope by clicking on the button above. My goodness, that passage truly is moving. I can see why Sawyer's mom was drawn to it. I pray Sawyer gets his chance to go to China!

Thanks for sharing his story!
