All Jacked Up...

It's 11pm on a work night and I'm jacked up on sweet tarts, jr mints, and diet coke. You see, I have this problem where I have to constantly be doing something with my hands. So when I go on road trips, I bite my nails down to the core...or I eat a lot. In this case, I did both. It actually hurts to type right now because my fingers are so sore. Darn OCD/Anxiety!!!

I went to Anderson tonight for a Kenya trip meeting!!!! It's getting SO close y'all. 42 days. I'm nervous and excited. I'm going to miss Madi soooo much and of course other people too. I'm just really glad Morgan is going too; otherwise, I know I'd be homesick from day 1. We got our itineraries tonight and learned a bit about the culture and what we will be doing in the village. So awesome!

Wellll since I clearly have too much energy to go to bed - here's a movie review:

This is 40... Go to redbox now and rent it. Y'all - if you can look past the horrible language (every 5 seconds) then you will laugh your butt off. This movie is hilarious. I have a hard time sitting still through movies lately (see above - OCD/Anxiety) but I was glued to the tv with this one. Maybe it's because I could totally see that being my life in 20 years 12 years, or maybe because I like Paul Rudd as an actor. Either way, watch it. The bathroom scene is my favorite.

Let me know what you think about it! (PS. It advertises that it's the "sort of" sequel to Knocked-Up. Don't go by that because I HATED Knocked Up.)

Less than 6 months...

Look what came yesterday!!!!!

Only 5 months and 1 week until I leave for KENYA! I seriously cannot wait. I also am blown away by the support, love, and prayers I've received from friends and family. This was an easy decision - as far as, "yes, God I'm obeying you;" but, a difficult one to make financially and emotionally. Leaving Madi for 10 whole days is not going to be easy. I know though that this is 100% what I'm called to do and I can't wait to see what God has in store for me.

I'm just so excited and I had to share that with you all. I hope y'all had a great Sunday!

There are so many things I'm LOVING this week!

  • I'm LOVING that I'm officially going to Kenya on March 14, 2013!!!!!!!
  • I'm loving oranges again. I don't know why but I go through these crazy obsessions with oranges. I would pick the one fruit that's not great for me...
  • I'm loving this weather lately. It's slowly getting a bit cooler and it's just fabulous.
  • I'm loving Here Comes Honey Boo Boo! Come on, don't say you don't watch it!
  • I'm LOVING that the new iPhone will be announced today!!!!! Although, I'm only getting it if I can get an even trade from one of the online sites taking old phones. :-/ Gotta save for Kenya!!
  • I'm loving my church! For real, that place is awesome!
  • I'm loving the coffee-free Double Chocolatey Chip drink a friend introduced me to at Starbucks! Now I finally have a need for those giftcards y'all are always giving away! ;) Just don't tell me how many calories are in those drinks...

Yes, God.

Some of you may remember when I posted this post almost a year ago. For those who didn't see it, my husband and I were planning to go to Kenya this past August on a mission trip with our church. We decided not to go due to financial reasons. Since then, my passion to go has only grown, multiplied even. I can honestly say I regret the decision not to go tremendously.

Today though, my desire to go to Kenya was brought to the surface. Gary Snowzell, a pastor in Wales, spoke to our church. He spoke about passion in the church and passion in all that you do to serve the Lord. He asked the question "What is your passion?" Kenya was on my mind the entire service. Why Kenya? I feel like telling the WORLD about Jesus is every Christian's duty. It is our job, as fortunate people to hear God's word in complete freedom, to tell those less fortunate of hearing the gospel. I want more than anything to go to Kenya and be the person God has called me to be.

My husband is 100% supportive of me. He knows this will impact us financially, but he and I are trusting God, FULLY this time. The total cost of the trip for one person is $3,650, not including my passport and shots. Justin is praying about whether or not he will join me on this trip. He wants to be with me on this life-changing experience, but he also wants to make sure it is his calling as well.

I'm praying about which trip to go on and about the financial situation. If you would like to donate to my trip, please email me at bamorris4@gmail.com. I also hope to have a donation link added to my blog soon. If you could also pray for me and my husband and our trip, we'd appreciate it more than you know.

Thank you all for being so supportive of me and my crazy indecisiveness. I truly feel like God is telling me to do this and I couldn't be more excited!

"We won't be remembered by our opinions. We will be remembered by our passions." -Gary Snowzell

We're going to AFRICA!!!

About four months ago Justin and I tried to have a baby, for a month. We thought, at the time, that was what God had planned next for our lives. About a month after trying we both felt God telling us to do something else right now. Our church takes mission trips every year to Segera, Kenya. I had been wanting to go for a while and Justin did too but it wasn't until we both prayed about it that we felt that was truly our next step in our walk with God.

So, in September, we both put in our applications for the trip. I checked my email everyday hoping to hear back. Finally on October 26th I got my acceptance email!! Justin got his last week and now we are taking a HUGE leap of faith. We put down our deposit (which we only had by a gift from God) and are thrilled to be going on a mission trip to Kenya August 2-11th in 2012!!!!

Here is a little bit about what we will be doing in Kenya:

Our church, NewSpring, partners with The 410 Bridge. We'll be going to communities around Segera - a rural, dusty town approximately 3.5 hours north of Nairobi. In Segera, we'll work with the Kenyan people to make a difference in their community and therefore change their country and make a difference in the Kingdom. -taken from an excerpt here

Some of the projects that groups have worked on in the past are repairing roofs and digging ditches, and putting up fences. We will be working with the Kenyan people on whatever project we do and will be spreading the word of God!

When I said we are taking a leap of faith, I mean that! The overall cost of the trip for both Justin and me is $7000, not including passports and shots. We plan to raise this money through fundraisers, saving, and donations. We are truly putting this in God's hands and know that if this is something we are called to do then God will provide in some amazing ways!! Justin is planning an athletic fundraiser and I am planning on holding a yard sale selling donated items.

If you feel like this is something you want to contribute towards whether through prayer or donation, we would greatly appreciate it! Jenn at Munchkin Land Designs created a donation button for my blog. (She is awesome, btw!) It's at the top, by my header, and if you just click on it you can donate to our Kenya savings fund through PayPal. ALL funds will be put towards getting us to Kenya. We will be accepting donations until June 17th, 2012.

If you'd like to keep up with how we are doing and what awesome things God is doing in our lives to help us reach our goal, please like our Facebook page, Kenya on our hearts

We are SO excited about this trip and cannot wait to see what God has in store for us in Kenya! I just know it will change our lives for the better and help others get to know Jesus!!
