Testing Mama

This weekend has been, well, challenging. Over the past few days I've found that having a mature, intelligent toddler is not always a plus. Boy is she testing us!!! This past weekend has been full of hour long temper tantrums, back-talking, and crying fits. I don't really even know why. All I know is that it has been TOUGH. I have no idea how people have more than one child. I totally and completely admire those who do!

Madi is very stubborn. She will scream for hours non-stop if I let her, and I have. We are trying to get her to start sleeping in her own bed, the WHOLE night. I can get her to sleep in her bed but she always wakes up in the middle of the night. I have no clue how to get her to go back to sleep. The good thing is that she just stays in her bed and screams. She doesn't walk into our room...yet. So, I'm open to any and all suggestions/tips/advice!

The temper tantrums are another issue that I could use advice on. We have tried everything, it feels like, and nothing affects her enough to make her understand she can't speak to us in a certain tone or throw her toys. It's been difficult. Not to say she is always like this, because this morning she woke up and was singing songs to me. She is a very sweet child, but she's testing her parents and so far, she's winning. HELP! :)

In other news, I'm SOOOOO happy to have today off of work. Hope all of you are off too!!

Getting them to sleep in their own beds is hard stuff. As are temper tantrums. My 3 year old son pitched a HUGE one on Saturday night. He was very very tired. I know it can all wear a Mama out! It will get better. Hang in there!

I feel ya friend! We are having a terrible time with my 17 month old. He is very demanding & gets angry at the drop of a hat. He throws MAJOR tantrums and doesn't respond to any type of discipline. If I put him in his bed to let him "cry it out", he will literally cry for hours. I end up giving in. I'm hoping it passes with time. Good luck to you. Please wish me luck as I'm expecting another. Yikes, what am I going to do LOL.

I am with you. You are not alone! I have to take everyday hour by hour, and sometimes minute by minute. I try so hard not to lose my cool and to stay calm, but the little ones (esp this age) know which buttons to push. Of all the things I have heard and read, I hear consistency is the biggest key. Whether it is time out of spankings, doing it every time! When I wait til the 2nd offense to punish my toddler, she pushes me even farther the next time. My husband has started punishing her the first time and she is so much better for him. It is a trial! Hope it gets better for all of us!
Hope you have a better day.

I am SO glad we have today off too-I needed it! I"m sure Justin has filled you in...!
Having a smart child means having a headstrong child. My son is just that way too. So many blessings come with those children, but not without the temper tantrum curses! The only advice I can give you is to establish firm rules and absolutely, no matter what, stick with them. If they know they can push you in to chnging your mind, they will test you until you do...TRUST me! My son STILL pushes me, and it is hard to follow through sometimes because I feel so mean, but if I don't, I know it will get worse and worse! That old saying, give them and inch, they'll take a mile I think was written about headstrong children!

Hang in there-the 3's are tough, but you can do it, I promise!!!

Oh no! I don't have much advice being as I don't have kids, but I hope everything starts going better. Hopefully she's just in her terrible twos/threes! ;)

I don't know what to advise about the tantrums... you poor thing!! My niece is named Madi and she is very strong willed as well - hmm, I wonder if it has to do with the name. ;)

I've just started a new meme and would love for you to come by and join in the fun @
