A new addition & other things!

This weekend has been a whirlwind of fun, stress, and new adventures!

Fun - Friday night our good friend Jessica and her son Baker came over for dinner. I made manicotti for us and mac & cheese for the kiddos. Jessica brought over a key lime pie from Publix that I was talking about on FB this week. It was delicious! The kids had so much fun playing together. I just loved hearing them belly laugh!

Saturday morning Madi & I woke up early and went to the flea market with GiGi. I found a purse with the tags still on it, a wheel barrow toy for M, & a few other things. We also went to Carolina Pottery. I LOVED that store!!! My mom should have never introduced me to it because I will probably be spending way too much $$ in there in the future.

Stress - Saturday when I was dropping my mom off at her house my car decided to act up. It made a really loud sound and then steam came out of the hood. I have no idea what it was. My dad came over to check it out but everything looked fine so we went on home. Then this morning we were all in the car ready to leave and my car would not turn on. It wouldn't do anything - no lights, no clock, no nothing. Dad came to the rescue again and jumped it. I went to the auto store and said I needed a battery. Well, they checked it and I don't. SO I have no clue what is wrong with my car. It's running now and I pray it stays that way!

New Adventures - Today we went to a local pet rescue and fell in love with a sweet 5 month old puppy. Madi named her Perry. :) The rescue said she is a lab/boxer mix but I do not see boxer at all. I see beagle or basset hound mixed with lab. Idk! All we know is we love her already! (but boy are dogs a lot of work!!!)

Madi looooves her doggy!

If you have any house training tips, we'll take them! Right now we are putting bells on the door and ringing them anytime we take her out. It worked with our dog in Alaska so hopefully Perry will catch on quickly too!

My only tip for potty training puppies is to really pay attention to them especially after they eat or play really hard, because she will probably need to go.

and PRAISE, PRAISE, and more PRAISE

Totally agree with Kit's comment above!!!! That's what I was going to say....even watch Perry after a nap. Puppy's need to go immediately after a deep sleep!

As a beagle mommy, I can totally see what you mean about seeing beagle features in her! Especially her ears and eyes!

She is beautiful! What an awesome addition to your family!

Puppy training pads. Also, take her out every 30 - 45 minutes to start. Her bladder, like a babies, is small. Get special treats for when she goes out and does her business.

If Perry pees or poops on the carpet, use baking soda to get rid of the smell or that will be the new favorite spot. Keep in mind their noses are better then ours. NEVER spank your dog, though. It will not help.

Here is a great site that I used when we got our first puppy. I hope it helps!

Aww YAY. I love the pics of Baker and Madi! Bells worked great for all our dogs growing up and Miller too. Just do what you guys did with Lucy and I think you'll be set! They're just like children so you did it with Madi and I know you can do it with Perry! Consistency is key. oh treats, treats, and more treats! I can't wait to meet her!

Sounds like a great weekend except for the car issue. Hope that gets worked out soon. Torn up vehicles equal lots of stress!

Cute dog- I agree, I think I see some bassett in it! Good luck with training. I don't have the patience for an indoor puppy!

Happy Monday :)
