It's a Girl!

This post is crazy late but better late than never!

About a month ago I threw a baby sprinkle (have y'all heard of that? Basically it's a less elaborate shower for already moms) for one of my best friends, Jessica. Since then she has had her sweet baby girl and both are healthy and happy!

Jessica lives in Columbia, SC so I threw the shower at my mom's house in Lexington. I of course turned to Pinterest for some decoration and game ideas. We played The Price is Right and What's on in your iPhone. They were fun, simple games!

Jessica's mom helped me a ton! She made some delicious food and ordered the cake from my cousin's bakery in Chapin, SC.  I think it turned out great and Jessica got tons of wonderful gifts for Della!

Yesterday was a really fun day! I had some things to do in the morning, but that afternoon our friend Jessica and her son Baker came over to play. It was HOT yesterday. Like 96* not counting how humid it was. So, we got out the pool and the sprinkler and watched the kids have a blast!

That evening Justin went out with a friend so Madi & I lounged around and watched tv. Today I'm off to church most of the day and hopefully stopping by to see Pop!

Trip to Lake Gaston

In my last post I mentioned Justin & Madi weren't feeling well. Luckily they just needed a good night's sleep. Friday morning they woke up feeling much better so we packed up the car and headed to Virginia to stay at Lake Gaston for the weekend with The Smiths!

Lindsey invited us to come stay with them at their family lake house. I am so glad we went. We had the best time!!! Friday afternoon/evening when we got there the girls played in the sprinkler, we had pizza for dinner, and then all went on the boat. The girls, Justin, and Michael swam in the lake and Linds and I laughed at how cold they all were. :)

After the girls went to bed, the adults played Apples to Apples. It was my first time playing and I absolutely love that game! We had lots of laughs with it that's for sure!

Saturday we woke up bright and early. The girls and Justin went swimming off the dock for a bit and then we went back out on the boat to go tubing! Big Bertha (the tube) was a hit! Madi really wanted to go. I, of course, was a nervous wreck so just took her the first time. She absolutely loved it. I went with her once after that because she really wanted to go again! McKayla completely mastered the tube. It was so fun watching her bounce around. I can't believe she didn't fly out!

Saturday afternoon we lounged around, ate a bunch of junk, and played some games. That evening we celebrated Michael's birthday with some amazing local cupcakes that Lindsey bought for him. YUM. Lindsey also made us a delicious dinner and we all just enjoyed the beautiful view! 

Madi crashed early that evening. Someone played too hard!

Sunday morning we had to leave early so we could get home in time to rest for the work day on Monday. We were SO sad to leave. Justin & Michael hit it off great, Lindsey and I needed more time to chat, and McK and Madi were just so so so sad it was cute!! We can't wait to hang out with them again!

But they are so happy to have each other!

It was one of the best weekends we've ever had! So so thankful for good friends! 

M's First Dance Recital!

My little tap dancer/ballerina had her first recital on Sunday. I was one proud mama!!! Her rehearsal was on Saturday and I was just grinning ear to ear. Recital on Sunday and I was grinning bigger ear to ear.

You know my girl - sweet, shy, reserved Miss M. Well, she LOVES the stage! She let me go sit in the audience while she stayed with her class before the recital started. Y'all - that is HUGE for her. I was soooo surprised.

The recital was perfect! They did about 3 tap dances and 2 ballet dances and then their leaps. I just couldn't be more proud. I took videos but my camera had horrible video quality for some reason. It's usually not that bad at all. :( But, here are some of my favorite pictures from the evening.

This day was probably one of the best I've had as a mother. Seeing my little girl grow up and be so independent just melts my heart. She is the best gift God could have ever given us! Love you to pieces Madi May!!
