DDIY: Don't Do It Yourself

It's kind of like how my mom used to think that EVERYTHING sold in a trendy store was trendy...

ANYONE can post on Pinterest. Like people who think they came up with good DIYs but really they shouldn't DIY, ever.

One day I was scrolling through Pinterest and did a double take at one of the many DIY pins. I thought, who in the hell thought that was a good idea? So I pinned it to my "Just No" board and now I'm sharing these things with you.

Do. Not. Do. Them. They are not good ideas. Unless you are 5 and you are decorating your backyard playhouse.

Is this 1985? I don't want anything denim unless it's jeans. K, thanks.

Yes, it now looks like you're trying to play Tetris with your shoes.

I could cut up any box and make something. It doesn't mean I should.

That is called a wine holder. Not a towel holder. There is a reason for that.
If you want to decorate your wall with towels...don't.

Do you need money? Food? Because this screams penny pincher to me. And tacky.

WHY. This is not "genius." This is lazy.

A little ray of sunshine!

So, it's not very often that I get crafty but I do love to send snail mail. I saw this pin of a box of "sunshine" and decided to give it a shot!

Here is the idea I saw on Pinterest here:

Here is the box I made:

I made mine for Paul so obviously I couldn't do the same stuff as I would for a girlfriend of mine. I think I managed to keep it pretty manly!

I included: Yellow post-it notes, juicy fruit gum, Reese's peanut butter cups, yellow starbursts, lemon drops, tissues, swedish fish, and a bag of starburst jelly beans.

I found this print-out on Pinterest too. Get yours here.

And yes, I painted the box yellow & used yellow tissue paper.

This was so much fun to do and it didn't cost much at all.

Recipe Overload

I have been on a pinterest-trying kick this week! I have a few recipe reviews for y'all tonight. :)

Tuesday night I decided to make the mini lasagna's I've seen all over Pinterest lately. It's won ton wrappers in a cupcake pan with marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, mozz cheese, and I chose to add ground beef.

I was supposed to layer the won ton wrappers, because well, DUH, it's lasagna. That light bulb did not click with me until I was finished making them so these are more like lasagna muffins. :)

Result - These were really good; however, I'm sure they will be even better done the right way! The only negative thing is that they don't reheat well. Also, next time I will fold down the corners of the won ton wrapper on top because it literally cut my gums from being so sharp and crispy! This is one of the few dishes that *both* Justin & I enjoyed!

Before baking - last step was to put the won ton wrapper on top of each one.

Pinterest pic is showing up huge on here so here is the direct link.

Last night, I made "Melt in your mouth chicken breast." It's just greek yogurt, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, seasoning salt, and pepper mixed together and then spread on the chicken. I didn't have any seasoning salt so I left that out.

Result - Once again, hubby & I loved this! The chicken was delish!! My only hang up was that I couldn't really get it crispy. Next time, I think I will put less of the spread on the chicken. It really was awesome though and reheats really well.

Mine :)

Tonight, I of course wanted to make something for Valentine's Day. I chose the "Brown Sugar Valentine's Day Blondie." This uses Valentine's Day colored M&Ms and your basic baking ingredients with LOTS of brown sugar and vanilla extract. :)

Result - It's M&Ms and loads of sugar, how do you think it was? Ha, this was amazing. Super rich, so I only ate a tiny piece. I really made this because I knew it would be fun for Madi to help me. I let her pour in the M&Ms and then sprinkle them on top and she really enjoyed it.

Yes, I still use the fork method to check if it's done...

Which recipe do you want to try? Any recipes I need to try?

:) Happy V Day!

Oh How Pinteresting - Things I've done

Today I'm linking up with Michelle for a Pinterest link-up! Instead of showing y'all what I'm pinning, I'm going to show y'all what I've done!

I made this dishwasher detergent and I love it. It is so easy and quick to make, inexpensive, and works great. It will also last a bagillion (no, really) washes. Make it - now!

I made these baked pickles. I was not a fan. I may not have used enough breading or maybe I'm just too picky. I gave them to my dad and my brother's friend and they really liked them!

I made this french toast bake a few weeks ago and husband said it was the best french toast he's ever had! Sweet! It was super simple to make and inexpensive too. And the best part - you prepare it the night before, leave in the fridge over night, and pop in the oven in the morning. I will definitely be making this on a regular basis!

Mmmmm sweet tea! I made this tonight. It was really good! I didn't make near as much tea as the recipe called for so I cut the baking soda in half. I think next time I will make the full recipe and see how that tastes. :)

What things have you tried from Pinterest? Favorite new pins? Link up with Michelle so we can all see!

Happy Wednesday! Oh and I reached 400 followers last night! YAY!! Thanks for reading my blog y'all!
